Šestilo Staedtler 552 01

The Staedtler 552 01 bow compass is a precision drawing instrument designed for accurate circle construction and geometry work. Made in Germany with a focus on stable mechanics and fine adjustment, this compass offers predictable performance for technical drawing, school projects, and design tasks. The adjustable arm and ergonomic grip provide controlled movement and comfortable handling during repetitive use.

Advantages

The compass combines robust construction with a fine adjustment mechanism that enables small, precise radius changes. Its balanced weight distribution and smooth hinge ensure steady operation on drafting paper and sketchbooks. The tool's ergonomic shape reduces hand fatigue during extended drawing sessions while maintaining consistent accuracy.

Suitable for

• Technical drawing and drafting
• School geometry classes and student exercises
• Architectural and engineering sketches
• Arts, design and craft projects requiring precise circles

Key specifications

• Material: metal construction with precision hinge
• Adjustment: fine adjustment mechanism for precise radius control
• Grip: ergonomic bow-shaped arm for comfortable handling
• Point type: sharp needle point for stable pivoting
• Finish: durable coating to resist wear during regular use

How to use

Place the needle point firmly at the intended center of the circle and set the pencil or lead in the holding clamp. Use the fine adjustment to set the desired radius, then rotate the compass smoothly while maintaining downward pressure on the pivot point. For repeated circles at the same radius, recheck the adjustment before each use to ensure consistent results. When changing leads or pencil inserts, secure them firmly in the clamp to prevent slipping during drawing.

Recommendations

Use on a stable, flat surface and avoid excessive lateral force on the hinge. Store with points protected or capped to preserve sharpness and prevent damage. Regularly check and, if necessary, tighten the hinge and clamp screws to maintain precision.
