Dleto Bahco 424P-12

The Bahco 424P-12 paring chisel features a 12 mm hardened steel cutting edge and a total length of 266 mm with a 140 mm working blade, designed for precise paring and finishing in woodworking. Built by BAHCO to deliver consistent performance, the chisel combines a slim blade profile with a rubberised handle for secure grip and control during delicate tasks.

Advantages

The 12 mm high-quality steel blade provides accurate, clean paring cuts and resists wear. The rubberised handle improves grip and reduces slippage when applying controlled pressure. The overall dimensions offer good reach and leverage for fine carving and trimming work, while robust construction contributes to durability and consistent results.

Suitable for

• Fine paring and shaving of joints and edges
• Trimming tenons, rabbets and grooves
• Detail work in cabinetmaking and furniture repair
• Final finishing before sanding or assembling

How to use

Hold the chisel with the rubberised handle in your dominant hand and support the workpiece securely. Position the bevel appropriately for paring (bevel up for delicate shaving) and make controlled, shallow strokes away from the workpiece edge to remove thin shavings. Use a mallet only if the chisel and task require heavier cutting; otherwise hand paring provides the best control for fine work. Keep the blade sharp and maintain a consistent angle while working for clean results.

Recommendations

For safe and effective use, regularly hone the 12 mm blade to preserve a keen edge, clamp the workpiece to prevent movement, and wear eye protection. Store the chisel in a holder or sleeve to protect the edge when not in use.
